Tea Leaves

Amchaka and Yonten Dem, sourced from a group of community farmers in Talhogang village of Punakha, offer a unique natural dye derived from herbal tea leaves. Grown at the serene altitude of Punakha, at 1,200 meters above sea level, this herbal dye produces a distinct earthy, bronzish tone, unlike any other. The leaves are carefully harvested by local farmers, providing a sustainable and eco-friendly option for creating beautifully dyed textiles and crafts.

This collaborative community effort reflects a deep connection to nature and tradition, making Amchaka and Yonten Dem a rare and valuable resource for natural dye enthusiasts and those passionate about supporting traditional craftsmanship. Historically, Amchaka and Yonten Dem have also been used as tea leaves for Bhutan's traditional  butter salt tea-Suja, further emphasizing their cultural significance.
