Lac ja tsho

Lac Natural Dye, derived from the resin of the Kerria lacca insect, is a vibrant and eco-friendly colorant found in regions spanning India, Southeast Asia, Nepal, Burma, Bhutan, and South China. The process begins with the female lac insects secreting a resin that envelops their colony, forming what is known as stick lac. Once harvested, this resin is carefully broken from the branches, and its rich hue is extracted to create the dye.

The resulting Lac dye produces a beautiful spectrum of colors, ranging from crimsons and burgundy reds to deep purples. Its warm, soft, and muted tones distinguish it from other natural dyes like cochineal, offering a more subdued, yet equally captivating palette. Lac dye is renowned for its exceptional light and washfastness on fibers such as silk and wool, ensuring vibrant, long-lasting color. With only small quantities needed to achieve a medium depth of shade, Lac Natural Dye is both efficient and luxurious, making it a cherished choice for artisans seeking sustainable and richly pigmented hues for textiles.
